Treska’s
Join us next Thursday, October 2nd, to see The Moon and You! At its core, The Moon and You is a charismatic husband-and-wife team. Melissa Hyman plays cello, Ryan Furstenberg plays guitar and banjo, and both sing in “voices that sound like they were made for one another” (Bill DeYoung, Connect Savannah). But whatever you might assume based on their gorgeous vocal blend and heartfelt lyrics, this ain’t your basic folk duo. With a rotating cast of talented friends to add unexpected instrumentation to their lineup, The Moon and You never plays the same show twice. This ever-evolving, expandable and collapsible model leaves the band constantly reinventing itself in ways both surprising and satisfying.
Our friends with The Aztec Dancers' group, Altepetl Tepeyolotzin practice each week on Highland Lake at The Sanctuary in the Pines. Next week, as an opening act before the scheduled concert from The Moon and You, you can experience this cultural dance group as they perform their traditional Native dance!
Altepetl Tepeyolotzin is a community of Aztec Conchero Dancers — a living tradition of faith, culture, and ancestral roots. The Conchero dancers represent one of the oldest and deepest traditions of Mexico. This ceremonial dance blends indigenous spirituality with elements of Christianity, born as a form of cultural resistance after the conquest. The name “conchero” comes from the musical instrument that accompanies the dances: the concha, a traditional guitar made with the armadillo shell.
In collaboration with this special performance, we will be featuring menu items such as Mojo Braised Chicken, Beef Picadillo, Homemade Salsas, and Vegetarian Queso Blanco! Stay tuned for more information next week!
