Together we will discuss the importance of arts in the community with local artist Dale McEntire and Marianne Carruth of Tryon Arts Center.
Join us for a conversation exploring the vital connection between art and community. Marianne Carruth, Director of the Tryon Painters and Sculptors/Tryon Arts Center, brings a passionate advocacy for integrating the arts into education — a belief that creative expression ignites curiosity, sharpens critical thinking, and transforms how we learn at every age.
Joining her is local painter and sculptor Dale McEntire, whose work grows out of a lifelong relationship with the natural world. Raised in rural western North Carolina, Dale found his voice as an artist through imagination and instinct long before he found formal training — studying with local painters, traveling to Europe, and eventually developing what he calls "Nature Symbolism," work rooted in stillness, presence, and the quiet essence beneath the visible world.
Together, Dale and Marianne will reflect on how art — whether made alone in the woods or taught in a classroom — has the power to bring people together, deepen belonging, and strengthen the communities we share.
