Genealogy Society at Flat Rock: May Meeting

  • Flat Rock United States (map)

Please join us at Flat Rock Village Hall on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 1:30 for a fascinating program.

Dr. William Sederburg, who is a genealogical researcher, retired university president, and former Michigan state senator, will present the story of his elusive ancestor, described below:

Uncle Harry Story

My uncle, Harry Emery Sederburg, disappeared in 1927, leaving behind a young wife and two children. He was assumed dead (by most of the family) but in 2016 DNA revealed that I had first cousins living in California whom I did not know. DNA and traditional genealogy uncovered his story. In 2017 we had a large family reunion.

Harry's story includes being married four times, abandoning two young families, having three boys who were named Marvin, and using three different last names. My presentation covers the genealogical research, DNA and basics of how our family was reunited 90 years after he disappeared.

We hope to see you there!
