Full Moon Story Hour at the Cove
The Full Moon Story Hour originally took root in the community in October 2024, drawing inspiration from the format of The Moth Radio Hour by sharing true, unscripted stories under four minutes centered around a specific theme. This traveling story core has moved through several local venues, including the Gallery at Flat Rock, the Kanuga Conference Center, and Studio 116. Now, this tradition continues as the Full Moon Story Hour joins the lively dynamic at Highland Lake Cove.
Community members are invited to circle up and share stories on Monday, June 29th, at 4:00 PM at the Sanctuary in the Pines to celebrate the Strawberry Moon. This name was originally coined by the Algonquin, Ojibwe, Dakota, and Lakota peoples to signify the peak of the wild strawberry harvest. Because the actual full moon occurs at 7:58 PM that evening, guests will have ample time to gather inspiration before heading home to place a jar of water in the moonlight overnight to catch a bit of elemental inspiration.
The theme for this month is Rain. Memory-priming questions are provided to help spark the storytelling process, though the true focus remains on the personal memories that move each speaker.
