Flat Rock Tail Gate Market in Full Swing
It has been several weeks now since the Flat Rock Tail Gate market relocated to the Pinecrest Church parking lot at the corner of Greenville Highway and N Highland Lake road. By all accounts, the new venue has proved very popular, with easier access, parking and space for vendors.
The growing season is in full swing, and summer’s bounty of tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers are beginning to arrive. But the market has more than just vegetables.
James Smoke drives up from Edisto Beach in South Carolina with fresh fish, shrimp and huge scallops. George Coundoussias is selling olive oil made from his family’s grove in Greece. It is sweet, pure and reasonably priced. Julie Noble from Brevard offers two versions of Mother Noble’s Pimento Cheese: Plain and Jalapeno. Wildflower Honey sells local honey and blueberries. Organic and natural soaps and lotions can be purchased from Tammy Adkins of Sacred Gifts.
And there is live music as well.
Mushroom seller and market manager, Jeff Tempest, said that in coming weeks, more vendors will be participating in the market as more things come into season. For more details, go to www.flatrockfarmersmarket.com. Sign up for weekly reminders and get the latest news.
